Mozztronics EM-1 Echo Machine

We at Mozztronics wanted to make a delay pedal. We used the famous PT2399 delay chip used by many manufacturers around the world, but we wanted to make something different to what everybody else makes, and after a lot of trying different circuits we added LFO modulation to the delay time.

We included a footswitch for the LFO modulation so you can easily turn the LFO off (and use the pedal as a standard delay unit), and a High / Low range switch for the LFO depth to make it easier to dial in. We also added a DRY volume in case you want your dry volume more than unity gain.

DRY is the volume of the dry signal (ie without echo), WET is the volume of the echo signal, F-BACK is the feedback level if you want multiple echo reflections, DELAY is the time between echoes with clockwise being longer delay times.
Then we get to the LFO modulation. RATE is the LFO oscillator rate with clockwise being faster, and DEPTH is the depth of modulation to the delay time. At different RATE settings you may need more or less DEPTH, so we added a DEPTH switch for HI or LO depth range to make it easier to dial in.

Start with LFO off. Set DRY so your output volume is at unity. Bring up the WET volume, and adjust F-BACK and DELAY to get the sound you want.
Now let’s have some fun, turn the LFO on, adjust RATE and DEPTH to get a much more interesting sound. A little bit of modulation helps bring a standard echo to life. The LFO modulation gives an effect like a univibe / chorus and a very lush modulated echo. We love it and we think you will too.
